South Salem Little League All-Stars
All-Stars is a post-season opportunity where selected players represent South Salem Little League in competitive tournaments. Teams begin at the District level and may advance to State, Regional, and even the nationally televised Little League World Series.
The fee to participate in All-Stars is $125. This covers a team jersey, hat, and field fees. Families should also plan for additional expenses such as travel, meals, team photos, and potential tournament gate fees.
The league may field one team in each of the following divisions:
- 8–10 Year-Old Baseball & Softball
- 9–11 Year-Old Baseball & Softball
- 10–12 Year-Old Baseball & Softball (Majors)
- 11–13 Year-Old Baseball (Intermediate 50/70)
- 12–14 Year-Old Baseball & Softball (Junior League)
How Are Teams Selected?
All-Star rosters are formed through a nomination and tryout process:
Team Vote: Each regular season team nominates one player to represent them. This player will automatically receive a tryout invitation.
Coach Nominations: Coaches are asked to nominate additional players based on skill, attitude, and availability.
Tryouts: All nominated players will receive tryout invitations on or shortly after
May 20. Tryout invitation responses are due by
May 28.
Tryout Schedule
Friday, May 30 – Judson Middle School
- 5:30 PM – Majors Baseball
- 6:30 PM – AAA Baseball
Saturday, May 31 – Judson Middle School
- 9:00 AM – 50/70 Baseball
- 10:00 AM – Juniors Baseball
Saturday, May 31 – Leslie Middle School

Final Rosters: All-Star coaches select their final teams based on tryout performance, team needs, and overall commitment. Teams will be announced on or before
June 2.
Eligibility: To be eligible, players must participate in at least eight regular season games and meet all Little League age, residency, and school requirements.
Documentation: All-Star documentation requirements are more detailed than those for the regular season. You may be asked to provide additional verification, including the original birth certificate, which may need to be temporarily kept on file with the league. If your player is selected, you will receive further instructions and a list of required documents.
What’s Expected from Families & Players
All-Star participation is an honor and a commitment. Please review these expectations carefully:
- Schedule: The All-Star season typically runs from mid-June through mid-July, with potential for advancement into late July or August.
- Practices: Begin in early June and may overlap with the end of the regular season. Teams usually practice 3–5 times per week with possible scrimmages.
- Availability: Players must be available for both District and State tournaments. Partial availability may result in selection as an alternate or not being selected at all.
- Attendance: All practices, games, and scrimmages are mandatory unless previously communicated with the head coach.
- Playing Time: Playing time is not guaranteed. Coaches determine roles based on effort, attitude, and performance.
- Fundraising: Teams that advance may need to organize fundraising to help cover extended travel costs such as hotels and meals.
- Team Culture: All-Stars is a competitive, team-first environment. Players are expected to show dedication, sportsmanship, and a love for the game.
